Built for the Beach Road and Every Paved Mile in Between

The Beach Road path in Nags Head runs 11 paved miles, Eighth Street to Milepost 21, with the ocean on one side and the sound sunsets on the other. Manteo has 7 more under the crepe myrtles. Duck and Southern Shores are stitched together by shaded multi-use paths the whole way. That’s the riding this bike was picked for, and at $79 a day it’s also the least expensive e-bike in the fleet.

  • Torque-Sensor Pedal Assist: The motor reads your effort and adds to it instead of surging when you touch the pedals. First-time e-bike riders settle in within a block, and we set everything up at delivery.
  • Light and Low: 48 lbs with a step-through frame. Easy to get on, easy to handle at stop signs, and easy to walk up to a bike rack when you get where you’re going.
  • Up to 70 Miles Per Charge: Plan on 50 or so the way most people actually ride, which still covers a full day of towns with battery left over. The charger comes with it.
  • Stops and Shines: Hydraulic disc brakes, plus lights front and rear. The headlight is bright enough for the ride home after a sound-side sunset.

This is the bike for the paths and the beach road. If your week includes riding on the sand itself, that’s the fat-tire E-Beach Cruiser‘s job, and if you’re only pedaling to the boardwalk, the $20 Classic Cruiser is honestly plenty.

One tip before you head out in summer. Ride north first when you can. The prevailing wind comes out of the south, and you’ll want it at your back on the leg home.

Note: Bike colors and brands may vary.

FAQ

Yes. The E-Road Bike’s pedal assist is adjustable and the torque sensor makes the power feel gradual rather than sudden. If you can ride a bike, you can ride this one. We set it up at delivery and watch your first loop around the driveway before we leave.

The paved multi-use paths: Nags Head’s 11-mile Beach Road path, the shaded paths linking Duck and Southern Shores, Corolla’s greenway past the lighthouse, and Manteo’s waterfront miles. Sweet Rides OBX delivers to all of them free, and we’ll mark up a route for your town at drop-off.

Up to 70 miles at the gentlest assist level. Most riders use more assist than that and get around 50, which still covers Duck to Nags Head and back with battery to spare. A charger comes with every rental.

No. The E-Road Bike’s 2-inch tires are made for pavement. For riding on the packed sand, rent the fat-tire E-Beach Cruiser instead. This is the bike for the multi-use paths, side streets, and the Beach Road.
